Peppers

Solanacee - Capsicum annuum L.
In Italy the cultivation of peppers  covers around a total area of around 13,600 hectares.  Of this around 11,000 hectares are in open field and around 2,600 hectares are used for protected crops.
Sicily, Campania and Veneto, with respectively 1,200, 700 and 230 hectares, are the regions growing peppers in greenhouses.
Puglia, Sicily, Campania, Calabria, Lazio and Veneto are the regions where peppers are grown also in open field, with a total of 7820 hectares.

Availability: all the red and yellow varieties, that is the following types: long very large, ‘corno’, square, ½ and ¾ long, chilli peppers

Type of production: standard plant, grafted plant, conventional and organically grown

Type of rootstock available: selection of interspecific hybrids

Type of graft: oblique cut

 Containers and Holes available : plastic tray with 54, 96 and 150 holes

Substrate available: pressed peat, soft peat

Why graft peppers: peppers can be grown even on land infected by soil-borne fungi, tolerance to cold and salinity and to blossom-end rot
